Prima edizione inglese di questa celebre opera sullo sci, tradotta dalla seconda edizione tedesca del 1928. Restauro al dorso ma per il resto buon esemplare. Mancante della sovracoperta.Arnold Fanck fu regista tedesco, studioso di scienze naturali e amante della montagna. Aveva diretto nel 1920 in collaborazione con l'etnologo Tauern un film nel quale unici protagonisti erano lo sci e la montagna: "Prodigi dello sci". Fu il pioniere di questo genere cinematografico, all'epoca di notevole difficoltà tecnica. Leni Riefenstahl ne rimase affascinata e volle partecipare come attrice al successivo, "La montagna sacra". Fanck fu tra le altre cose il produttore del film "La luce blu" che attirò l'attenzione di Adolf Hitler, consacrandolo come regista ufficiale del Nazismo sino al celebre film sulle Olimpiadi di Berlino. Bellissimo volume, di estremo interesse per lo sci e la cinematografia nelle loro fasi pionieristiche. Book.
